Preston Guild Merchants medallion. 1882
1882 Medallion
The 1882 Preston Guild under the Mayor of Edmund Birley Esq. was meant to be attended by the Duke and Duchess of Albany; one of the first to be attended by royalty. Unfortunately due to the ill health of the Duke (Prince Leopold) they were unable to attend, however this medallion still depicts the Duke and Duchess on the obverse.

The obverse shows conjoined portraits of the Duke and Duchess of Albany..

The reverse shows three shields in circles. One shows the Preston crest of Angus Dei, the lamb and flag whilst another shield states the current Guild mayor, Edmund Birley Esq
